Recollection is created by Federica, who lives and works in London, and Tiziana, who shares her time between Venice (Italy) and London.
The process we follow to make our creations involves, as far as possible, the use of natural materials (wool, silk, cotton) which we recover from out-of-fashion clothes, end-of-series threads and, if we are lucky, grandmother's chests forgotten in somebody's attic.
The idea of reworking something which would otherwise end up in the rubbish bin originates from our strong opposition to the wastage generated by our consumer society, as well as from the challenge involved in giving different materials a new life as useful and fashionable items. To describe our work we like to use the term "slow fashion", in opposition to society's notion of "fast consumerism".
We thoroughly enjoy the creative process involved in our work as well as the personal satisfaction we feel when the challenge is successfully met and generates something beautiful: it's a way of combining our creativity with our beliefs and values.
Because of the materials and the techniques we employ, all our items are unique.
