Random Crafts was created to allow small-scale artists and craftspeople the chance to sell their work to a worldwide market at a realistic cost. For many such artists, the idea of selling through shops, galleries or their own commercial website isn't financially viable due to the huge commissions and costs that these involve, plus the fact that so much stock has to be made in advance. Selling through Random Crafts means you only have to produce one of each item, (so you can advertise it on the site), then subsequent items can be made to order.

Selling in this way means that products can be sensibly and attractively priced whilst allowing the hardworking artist some financial gain. This hugely benefits both the buyer and the seller and, of course, the more artists who sell through one website, the more each share of the running costs can be cut.

Another opportunity that arises from joining the Random Crafts team is the possibility of skill-sharing. If you had an idea that you wanted to create but were unable to complete the whole process yourself, we may be able to put you in touch with someone who can help.

Random Crafts takes care of practically all of the commercial and promotional needs of the seller. Orders are accepted and paid for through the website's online shopping system. These are then forwarded, together with a pre-printed invoice, to the artist via email. All the artist needs to do is:

• provide photographs and descriptions of the items they wish to sell
• provide pricing information, including postage, packing and credit card charges, (help and advice is available on request)
• complete and package their orders and post them on to the buyers
• and, of course, we like to encourage our artists to include a profile of themselves so the buyers can see who makes all their favourite things!
